Art and Science of Online Search Strategies for Research Scholars

About the Topic : The researchers are in need of qualitative information. But the qualitative information is scattered due to an exponential growth of information in all the branches of knowledge. Both print and online sources of information are growing in myriad ways, and specifically the researchers' approach towards use of online information sources is increasing. So the talk addresses the required skills and approach towards tapping the scholarly information with less time. The talk highlights on three crucial elements viz. search strategies, search tools and various sources of information. The talk helps researchers to be specific, strategic, result-oriented by using certain online search techniques, sources of information and exploring a lot many online information resource discovery tools available specifically in public domain.
About the Speaker : Mr. Santosh C. Hulagabali has Master of Library and Information Science with 'Dr. S R. Ranganathan Gold Medal' and a University Rank from Karnataka University, Dharwad. Mr. Santosh started his career as Library and Documentation Assistant at RBI's IGIDR, Mumbai and as Library Intern at British Council Library, Mumbai. He has more than twenty papers to his credit, published in esteemed LIS journals, books and conference proceedings. As an Editor, Mr. Santosh has published two conference proceedings. He has also delivered six talks on All India Radio (AIR). At Present, Mr. Santosh works as the Librarian at Nagindas Khandwala College, Malad (W), Mumbai. At his Library he has started a Certificate Course in 'Online Information Sources Tools and Techniques' (COIST) for research scholars and also developed a national archive of conference abstracts (ICon-AD). He is presently pursuing Ph.D. from University of Mumbai.
